Description
Lallemand Verdant IPA Ale Yeast 11g was specially selected in collaboration with Verdant Brewing Co. in the UK for brewing hop-forward and malty beers. It produces prominent apricot aromas with underlying tropical fruit and citrus notes that work particularly well alongside modern hop varieties.
With medium to high attenuation, this strain leaves a soft and balanced malt profile with slightly more body than a typical American IPA yeast.
Verdant IPA Ale Yeast Fermentation Characteristics
This versatile strain combines expressive fruity aromas with good fermentation performance. Apricot is the most prominent aroma, supported by tropical fruit and citrus notes.
These fermentation characteristics can complement hop aroma rather than overpowering it. As a result, the strain is particularly useful for hazy and hop-forward beer styles where yeast character forms part of the overall flavour profile.

Suitable Beer Styles
Verdant IPA is particularly well suited to NEIPA and other modern hop-forward beers. However, its fermentation characteristics make it much more versatile than the name might suggest.
Suitable styles include English IPA, American IPA, American Pale Ale and English Bitter. The strain can also work particularly well in darker and malt-driven beers such as Sweet Stout.
In addition, Lallemand lists several sour beer styles among the applications for this strain. Therefore, home brewers can use it across a surprisingly broad selection of recipes.
Flavour and Body
The medium to high attenuation provides a useful balance between fermentation performance and body. Rather than producing an extremely dry finish, this yeast can leave a softer and more balanced malt profile.
Its fruity fermentation character can also integrate with hop-derived aromas. This makes it a strong option when brewing beers where both yeast and hops contribute to the finished aroma and flavour.
Using Lallemand Verdant IPA Yeast
Lallemand recommends a pitching rate of 50–100g/hL for most fermentations. More demanding conditions, including high-gravity or high-acidity wort, may require different yeast management.
Always consider your wort volume, original gravity and fermentation conditions when determining the appropriate pitching rate.
