Description
The Create+ Alembic Copper Dome provides a traditional copper vapour path for building a Create+ alembic pot still. Pair it with the Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser and a compatible boiler to produce flavourful spirits, hydrosols and distilled water.
Unlike reflux distillation, alembic pot distillation retains more of the flavours and aromas from the wash. As a result, the Copper Dome works particularly well for spirit styles where the character of the fermented wash is important.
In addition, its copper construction provides important contact with the vapour during distillation.
Designed for Flavourful Pot Distillation
The Create+ Alembic Copper Dome works with the matching Alembic Copper Condenser.
Together, the dome and condenser create an alembic-style vapour path that retains desirable flavour and aroma compounds during distillation.
Therefore, the setup is ideal for producing flavourful spirit styles such as whiskey, bourbon-style spirits, rum and gin.
Alternatively, you can use the system for producing hydrosols and distilled water.
Copper Construction
The Copper Dome provides extensive copper contact as vapour rises from the boiler.
During distillation, copper helps remove unwanted sulphur compounds and off-flavours from the vapour. As a result, this interaction can improve the quality and character of the finished distillate.
In addition, the traditional domed shape provides a large copper surface area while allowing desirable flavours and aromas from the wash to carry through into the distillate.
Create+ Boiler 25 L Compatibility
Pair the Alembic Copper Dome with the Create+ Boiler 25 L to form the base of a complete Create+ alembic pot still.
The 25 litre boiler provides dual element control with maximum power of 2200W. Therefore, it provides a versatile heating platform for the Create+ Alembic system.
The Copper Dome also fits the Grainfather G30.
2 Inch Tri-Clamp Compatibility
The Create+ Alembic Copper Dome includes a 2 inch Tri-Clamp to DN40 Threaded Adapter.
As a result, the dome can connect with compatible 2 inch tri-clamp distilling accessories and the matching Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser.
The supplied adapter includes a silicone gasket and DN40 nut.
In addition, you can remove the adapter from the dome for use with compatible older threaded Still Spirits condensers.
Therefore, the Copper Dome provides flexibility for both current Create+ equipment and suitable earlier Still Spirits configurations.
Performance with the Complete Alembic System
When paired with the Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser and Create+ Boiler 25 L, the complete alembic system can produce distillate at up to approximately 70% ABV before dilution.
For example, approximate yield is 3.5–7 litres at 40% ABV from a 25 litre wash.
However, actual yield and purity will vary depending on the wash ingredients, wash volume, fermentation and distillation technique.
Because this is a pot still configuration, its primary purpose is to retain desirable flavour and aroma rather than produce the highly neutral spirit associated with reflux distillation.
