The Create+ Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set combines a clear distillation sight glass with a botanical basket for compatible 2 inch tri-clamp distilling systems. Use it to visually monitor your distillation run or install the supplied mesh filters to create a botanical basket holding up to 150g of botanicals.
Constructed from 304-grade stainless steel and borosilicate glass, the set works with compatible Create+ equipment and accessories. In addition, it is compatible with suitable Grainfather G40 and G70 distilling attachments.
Sight Glass and Botanical Basket in One
The Create+ Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set provides two useful functions within a single modular accessory.
For use as a sight glass, connect it to a compatible 2 inch tri-clamp distilling system without installing the mesh filters. As a result, the clear borosilicate glass provides a direct view inside the vapour path during operation.
Alternatively, install the supplied mesh filters to convert the sight glass into a botanical basket.
Therefore, you can use the same component for visual monitoring or botanical infusion depending on your distilling configuration.
Botanical Basket for Gin and Flavoured Spirits
When configured as a botanical basket, the sight glass holds up to 150g of botanicals.
The supplied size 10 mesh filters also make the basket suitable for fine botanicals.
During distillation, vapour passes through the botanicals held inside the basket. As a result, the vapour can extract aromatic compounds and carry their character through to the finished distillate.
Therefore, the basket provides a practical option when experimenting with gin and other botanical spirit styles.
How to Use as a Botanical Basket
- Attach the sight glass to the lid or suitable connection point of your distilling system using one mesh filter and a 2 inch tri-clamp.
- Fill the sight glass with your chosen botanicals up to a maximum of 150g.
- Place the second mesh filter on top of the botanicals.
- Connect the top of the sight glass to the condenser setup using another 2 inch tri-clamp.

How to Use as a Sight Glass
For use purely as a sight glass, attach the unit directly to your compatible distilling system.
In this configuration, the mesh filters are not required.
As a result, the borosilicate glass provides a clear view into the distillation vapour path while the system operates.
2 Inch Tri-Clamp Compatibility
The Create+ Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set uses standard 2 inch tri-clamp connections.
Therefore, it integrates with compatible equipment throughout the modular Create+ range.
For example, it can form part of a suitable Create+ Alembic Distilling System configuration.
In addition, it is compatible with suitable Grainfather G40 and G70 distilling attachment accessories.
Using with Older Threaded T500 and Alembic Equipment
Older Still Spirits T500 and Alembic equipment may use threaded connections rather than the newer 2 inch tri-clamp system.
However, compatible older equipment can be converted to a 2 inch tri-clamp connection using the Create+ Threaded Adapter Set.
As a result, the Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set can integrate with suitable older Still Spirits T500 or Alembic Dome and Condenser configurations after the required conversion.
Always confirm the compatibility and load limits of the complete setup before assembly.
304-Grade Stainless Steel and Borosilicate Glass
The Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set combines 304-grade stainless steel with durable borosilicate glass.
The stainless steel ferrules provide the 2 inch tri-clamp connections at each end of the sight glass. Meanwhile, the transparent glass section allows you to see inside the unit during operation.
Together, these materials provide a durable reusable accessory for compatible distilling setups.
Column Extension Use
The sight glass can also form part of a compatible column extension setup.
However, when using the unit as a column extension with packing material, coarse mesh is required to help prevent flooding.
Therefore, the supplied fine botanical mesh filters should not automatically be treated as suitable packing retainers for this application.
Cleaning
After use, clean the Sight Glass Botanical Basket Set with warm water and a suitable brewery cleaner.
In addition, use a pipe brush to remove residual botanical oils from the glass.
Full disassembly should only be necessary when heavy soiling develops around the silicone components.
Sanitation is not required for this application.
Important Handling Information
The sight glass can become very hot during distillation.
Therefore, allow the complete assembly to cool after distillation before touching, removing or disassembling the sight glass.
