The Still Spirits T500 Copper Saddles 100g provide replacement copper column packing for compatible T500 distillation columns. Made from copper, the saddles provide essential copper contact during distillation and help maintain effective column performance.
Copper acts as a catalyst during distillation and helps remove unwanted sulphur compounds and associated odours from the vapour. As a result, maintaining effective copper contact helps produce a cleaner, smoother spirit.
Copper Packing for High Alcohol Washes
Copper saddles are particularly important when distilling high alcohol washes, typically above 16% ABV. Therefore, replacing old or worn copper packing helps maintain effective copper contact throughout the distillation process.
Packing the T500 Column
Add the copper saddles to the T500 distillation column first. Then shake the column firmly to settle them into position before adding the Still Spirits T500 Stainless Steel Saddles 500g.
Continue filling and shaking the column so the packing settles correctly. Make sure the copper saddles remain positioned at the top of the column.
