The Create+ Alembic Copper Dome & Condenser combines two essential copper components for building a Create+ alembic pot still. Pair the complete assembly with the Create+ Boiler 25 L to produce flavourful spirits, hydrosols and distilled water.

Unlike a reflux system designed primarily for producing clean neutral spirit, an alembic pot still retains more of the flavours and aromas from the wash. As a result, this setup is particularly well suited to producing full-flavoured spirit styles such as whiskey, bourbon-style spirits, rum and gin.

In addition, the copper construction provides important contact between the vapour and copper throughout the distillation process.

Complete Copper Alembic Assembly

This package includes both major components required for the upper alembic assembly:

• Create+ Alembic Copper Dome
• Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser

Together, these components create the upper distilling assembly required to transform a compatible boiler into an alembic pot still.

For example, the system is compatible with the Create+ Boiler 25 L. In addition, it can be used with compatible Grainfather equipment, including the G30.

Designed for Flavourful Spirits

The Create+ Alembic system is designed to retain and enhance desirable flavours and aromas from the wash.

Therefore, it provides a very different distilling style from a reflux column. Instead of concentrating the alcohol while removing most flavour compounds, the alembic system allows more character from the original wash to carry through into the distillate.

As a result, the system is particularly suitable for producing flavourful spirit styles where the character of the fermented wash is important.

For example, it can be used when producing whiskey, bourbon-style spirits, rum and gin.

Copper Dome

The Create+ Alembic Copper Dome provides a traditional copper vapour path with a domed shape designed for alembic-style distillation.

During distillation, the copper comes into contact with the vapour and helps remove unwanted sulphur compounds and off-flavours. As a result, it can help improve the quality and character of the finished distillate.

In addition, the shape of the dome provides extra copper surface area while allowing flavour and aroma compounds from the wash to carry through the distillation process.

Copper Condenser

After vapour passes through the dome, it enters the Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser.

The condenser cools the vapour and converts it back into liquid distillate for collection. Meanwhile, its copper construction continues to provide copper contact throughout the vapour path.

A digital thermometer with mounting bracket is included to help monitor vapour temperature during operation.

In addition, the condenser includes cooling water tubes together with kitchen, garden and laundry tap adaptors for connection to a suitable cooling water supply.

Up to 70% ABV Before Dilution

When used with the Create+ Boiler 25 L and a suitable wash, the Alembic Copper Dome & Condenser can produce distillate at up to approximately 70% ABV before dilution.

For example, approximate yield is 3.5–7 litres at 40% ABV from a 25 litre wash. However, actual yield and purity will vary depending on the wash ingredients, wash volume, fermentation and distillation technique.

Because this is an alembic pot still system, the focus is on retaining desirable flavour and aroma rather than achieving the very high purity associated with reflux distillation.

2 Inch Tri-Clamp Compatibility

The Create+ Alembic Copper Condenser uses a 2 inch tri-clamp connection.

Likewise, the Copper Dome includes a 2 inch Tri-Clamp to DN40 Threaded Adapter, including a silicone gasket and DN40 nut.

Together, these connections allow the system to integrate with compatible 2 inch tri-clamp distilling accessories.

As a result, the modular Create+ design provides greater flexibility when experimenting with compatible attachments and alternative distilling configurations.

In addition, the threaded adapter can be removed from the Copper Dome for compatibility with older threaded Still Spirits condensers.

Compatible Grainfather Options

In addition to the Create+ Boiler 25 L and Grainfather G30, the Alembic Copper Condenser can form part of compatible Grainfather G40 and G70 pot still configurations.

However, the appropriate Grainfather Alembic Condenser Attachment Kit and Distilling Lid are required for these larger Grainfather systems and are sold separately.

Therefore, always confirm the required attachments for the specific boiler or brewing system before assembling the still.

Cooling Water Requirements

The Alembic Copper Condenser requires a continuous cooling water supply during operation.

On average, cooling water use is approximately 150 litres per hour, although actual consumption may vary depending on operating conditions and cooling water temperature.

In addition, kitchen, garden and laundry tap adaptors are included to simplify connection to common water supplies.
